Soup Cleanse: Stock Variations

Dr. Elizabeth Cox, ND, LAc Posted on February 3, 2021 by Dr. Sarita CoxFebruary 26, 2021

Soup Cleanse: Stock Variations The soup cleanse is developed with simplicity in mind.  However, onion and garlic base may not be the best fit for everyone or we might tire of the same flavor or feel creative. A percent of people are sulfur intolerant; in these cases, I suggest a simple vegetable stock or herbal tea.     My favorite long game way to create vegetable stock is to consistently contribute all the trimmings from my organic vegetable meal prep into a collective freeze.  I save all the heads, tails, skins, peels, cores from vegetables and fruits that cross my cutting board and … Continue reading →

Focus

Dr. Elizabeth Cox, ND, LAc Posted on February 1, 2021 by Dr. Sarita CoxFebruary 26, 2021

Focus Each season has a corresponding set of organs that reach their energetic peak during the 73 day period.  Water rules the winter season. The bladder, kidney and adrenals are expressions of the water element in the landscape of the human body.  In addition to the organs and the yin/yang organ pair (kidney = yin & bladder = yang).  The water element manifests as the physical organs, their energetic pathways (meridians), the hair, teeth, bones, brain and spinal cord. You can learn more about simple, harmonious ways to support the water element here. Supporting the practice of focus is one … Continue reading →

Soup Cleanse Rules

Dr. Elizabeth Cox, ND, LAc Posted on January 31, 2021 by Dr. Sarita CoxFebruary 26, 2021

There are just a few basic ‘rulz’ and a lot of room for making it your own.  In my practice, I have learned that co-creating plans supports your wellness journey. No Grazing. Allow 4 to 5 hours between each meal.  This allows the nerve complex known as the migrating motor complex to move food out of our stomachs through the small intestine, optimizing nutrient absorption, maximizing digestive power while sweeping misplaced bacteria into the colon for elimination.  The MMC starts two hours after eating. Snacking between meals slows or stops the digestive process. Fermented Foods. Add one to two servings … Continue reading →

Soup Cleanse

Dr. Elizabeth Cox, ND, LAc Posted on January 27, 2021 by Dr. Sarita CoxFebruary 26, 2021

Soup Cleanse…….aka a winter reset    The number one question I get in January is “What do you think about this detox kit or that cleanse program or this product? My general answer is Winter is NOT the most harmonious time of the year to detoxify – save it for spring and fall.  And always, always prepare your body for a detox by opening the 5 avenues (emunctories) of elimination  ~ more on that later. Winter is for resting, restoring, dreaming, merging – hibernating in essence. I do understand the desire, even the need to reset after the overindulgence of … Continue reading →

You are resilient

Dr. Elizabeth Cox, ND, LAc Posted on January 4, 2021 by Dr. Sarita CoxJanuary 4, 2021

We have just crossed into the Water (Winter) season in the beginning of January.  Didn’t winter start on the solstice (21st)? Actually the solstice marks the midpoint of 18 transitional days ruled by the Earth (Transition) season. So use those Earth (Transition) Card Decks 4 times a year for seasonal support. On my first clinic of the season, I opened a deck Water/Winter element wisdom cards and choose this card to start off our season.  I chose the card – You are resilient.  After a year like 2020, I happily receive this affirmation. Last year, I completed the Element Wisdom … Continue reading →
