What if is the way forward is backwards? What if time is a spiral not a line? What if space & time can warp? What if time is an illusion.

Consider our common language: catch up, move forward, climb the ladder, hustle culture, get ahead. Sounds exhausting.

Are there any signs that we may want to step back? Yes, of course. Do any of these sound familiar?

I’ve sent out a hundred resumes but have gotten zero callbacks. I keep messaging but no one replies. I feel sick to my stomach every time I think of it. I wake up grinding my teeth afterwards. I’m board; I’ve lost my spark, passion, creativity for the project. The same conversation occurs again and again with no resolve. I’ve become someone I no longer recognize or like. The environment (internally and externally) is consistently negative, toxic or abusive. My body rebels: I oversleep, I forget important dates, deadlines, I double book, my shoulders are in knots. Technology fails when I work on the project: consistent internet outages, glitches, 404 messages, files won’t load.

What can happen when we take a step back? A new perspective, an allowing, respite, presence, creativity. Stepping back can allow us to reconsider and reconfigure with newfound clarity.

Are there any practical tips to stepping back?

 • Pause.
 • Breathe.
 • Rest.
 • Practice compassion.
 • Set Boundaries.
 • Apply self-love
 • Reflect.

Sometimes stepping down is then next step. Sometimes stepping up is the next step.

When have you stepped back and the result

has been better than you could have ever imagined?

Fire – Burn it up https://drsaritaelizabeth.com/fire-burn-it-up/ Mon, 19 Sep 2022 21:02:34 +0000 https://drsaritaelizabeth.com/?p=3976 If standing up for myself, burns a bridge…….I have matches. We ride at midnight. #selflove #fire We reach a point along our journey that we will no longer tolerate unjust or harmful behaviors to ourself or others be them with individuals or within systems. Being a silent bystander or participant creates an environment in which our silence may be interpreted as agreement. The cultivation of prayer, awareness, reflection and discernment lends insight. Sometimes insight comes on as a holy flame. Sometimes we ride with our tribe. Sometimes we ride alone. The pericardium, heart protector, may be injured with boundary violations like rape or incest or with trauma like divorce or heartbreak. If you struggle with setting or holding healthy boundaries or it appears that your boundaries are frequently being challenged, look inward AND outward. It is a self love practice. If you are still confused ask yourself: how does it feel if my daughter was being treated in this manner/allowing this situation? How does it feel if my best friend was? Then ask again for yourself. Do it goddess! Set boundaries with dignity. Use fire when necessary 🔥 If the fire doesn’t work, book a session, and I’ll light one for you. Mirror. Mirror. https://drsaritaelizabeth.com/mirror-mirror/ Fri, 13 Nov 2020 00:19:53 +0000 https://drsaritaelizabeth.com/?p=3516 Continue reading →]]>

In Chinese culture the circle shape is associated with the Metal/Fall season and represents oneness, unity and being fulfilled. Perhaps one of the most common circles we encounter in our daily lives are mirrors. It is in a mirror that we can physically reflect on ourselves, however it is possible to reflect without a mirror as well. Look for circles today, but more importantly, reflect on what makes you whole.

One self-care practice that I invite some of my patients to incorporate into their daily lives is looking into their eyes in the mirror daily and speak aloud ‘I love you’ or ‘You, darling, are fabulous’ or some such phrase. It works to change the way in which we see ourselves and reflects how to accept compliments with grace. Will you accept this November challenge to voice and reflect love to yourself?

The organs of the Metal season are the Lungs and Large Intestine

Metal: structure, boundaries

The characteristics of metal are hard, strong and precise.

The emotion connected to the lungs and large intestines is being excessively judgmental or stuck in grief or when out of balance and letting go of that which no longer serves and healthy boundaries when in balance.
