Fill your bladder with blue-black light

Each of the five elements of has an associated color, direction, sound, taste, note, organ affinity, etc.

The color of water/winter is blue-black. The associated organs of the bladder, kidney & adrenals are harmonized, nourished & balanced when we utilize blue-black for healing.

There are many effective means to heal with color. In my clinic, I utilize color and sound healing with tuning forks and color shields as I was instructed by Fabian Maman of the Tama-Do Academy with children & with patients that are pain sensitive to needling. I painted the doors & walls to correspond to the elemental direction (Feng Shui). The doors on the north side of the building are midnight blue. Many people remark that Alberta Orchard Wellness feels healing as soon as you step into the building; this is part of the reason why it resonates peace and harmony. I also change the curtains, artwork & rugs to align with the season.

Application of color ranges from gross to subtle, starting with the physical use of color on our bodies or in our environment to the visualization of color in our mind’s eye. Let’s explore some practical ways to help you find your own way to healing with seasonal colors of water/winter to restore the bladder, kindeys & adrenals.

 • Wear blue-black (black, navy) layers of clothing to strengthen the organs
 • Style your home or office with Navy curtains, duvet, wool rugs, velvet curtains or throw pillows
 • Bring in artwork depicting water, especially the ocean at night
 • Run a screensaver of underwater life or a dark blue ocean on your computer, smart phone or TV
 • In the north of your home or office, set a dark blue bowl, tablecloth, shawl or scarf in a featured area
 • Keep a piece of labradorite stone in your pocket
 • Drink from a dark blue handcrafted pottery cup
 • Breath in shimmering, deep blue-black of the ocean for 5 count. Hold 5 count. Exhale 5 count. Hold 5 count. Repeat 5 times.
 • Place your hands over your bladder and visualize healing blue black light filling your organ
 • Begin and end your meditations with sweeping the body with glistening midnight blue color
 • Connect with bubbling spring (KD1) on the bottom of the foot. Allow deep blue black water to rise up from the earth, flow through your water channels into your bladder. Direct blue black light to fill then clear any imbalance or blockage. Allow the waters of life to nourish your organs.

Water ~ Unplug https://drsaritaelizabeth.com/water-unplug/ Thu, 22 Jan 2026 16:40:32 +0000 https://drsaritaelizabeth.com/?p=5295 Continue reading →]]>

How do you unplug?

In a world ruled by screens, drones, instant messaging, on demand everything, how do you unplug?

And for how long?

Have you ever noticed yourself becoming less distracted, with a brightened mood, as your mind calms, and your breathing deepens and relaxes as you spend time with nature? A recent study shows positive affect, restoration, connectedness and mindfulness increase during a 2.5 hour forest tour.

Maybe you’ve tried walking barefoot on the earth or the warm, salty ocean shore, sleeping grounded or oriented to the cardinal directions. There are health benefits to these.

Have you been charmed by a waterfall in the forest? We’ve studied that too!

Is deep breathing, music or guided imagery your go-to? Research concurs.

Do you take a vacation or, better yet, a meditation retreat? That works.

Can you turn off your cell phone for a day? 10 days? Maybe you should.

Do you swear by sunshine to relax and restore?

How about a nourishing winter soup cleanse?

You can find all the getting started tips here & search my Cultivating Wellness Blog “soup cleanse” all the posts.

Do you unplug your wi-fi at night? Yes, I do.

Given each of our unique life situations “unplugging” may look very different.

The key is to find ways to down regulate our nervous systems and up regulate our natural feel good pharmacy D.O.S.E. (Dopamine, Oxytocin, Serotonin, Endorphin) for our best life.

After many years of healing myself with seasonal wisdom & the Element Wisdom Card deck in a location with four distinct meterological seasons, I am exploring winter residency in latitudes closer to the equator to further nourish and strengthen my constitutional Water Element.

I would love to teach you more about how to heal yourself through mind, body, spirit practices that harmonize you with the dynamic rhythm of the season. Here we find our most wholesome & unique expression of our health. When we sync ourself with the macrocosmic expression of our external world, our internal microcosmic needs become clear.

I am available for telemedicine consults now and

offer acupuncture services again January 29 – February 15.

Special Reiki treatments are available while I am away. Book all of those services here.

Earth: explore the arising & passing of sensations https://drsaritaelizabeth.com/earth-explore-the-arising-passing-of-sensations/ Tue, 23 Sep 2025 20:50:18 +0000 https://drsaritaelizabeth.com/?p=5017 Continue reading →]]> Sensations arise and sensations pass.

Paying close attention to the coming and going of feelings within the body leads us to a deeper understanding of impermanence. This mind-body understanding of impermanence guides us deeper into allowing.

Have you tried body scanning?

Enjoy a free body scan script here

or choose from a free guided 20, 30 or 45 minute audio here

Body scanning is a widely used technique for stress reduction. As we practice this mindfulness act again and again, we may start to notice the sensation arise prior to an emotion or feeling. The question then becomes, are we reacting to the external situation or an internal stimulation?

Sensations arise and sensation pass.

Situations arise and situations pass.

Body scan meditations help reduce stress & anxiety, improve concentration, begat clarity and helps us live in the present moment. This study shows that body scanning can even reduce the severity & perception of chronic pain immediately.

Practices that focus the mind and explore sensation help us discover that, generally, we are reacting to internal, pre-programmed stimulus. To break our reactive patterns and form new habit patterns: be still, notice the sensation, be still some more, notice again.

Invoke your innate intelligence.

We have never had more immediate access to information. We can acquire certificates and degrees from the comfort of our own home. Opinions on most anything is available 24/7. Agenda and propaganda masquerade as news while dissenting voices are censored.

Intelligence is the ability to acquire, filter, sort and apply information. There are many forms of intelligence: artificial, abstract, logical, emotional, social, creative, adaptive, self-aware, critical thinking, problem solving. Intelligence is not an agency.

The proper place for human beings is between heaven and earth. Our birthright is heavenly connection and earthly incarnation.

Our innate intelligence surpasses that of an entire network of supercomputers. The question is do you know how to tap into it?

The revelation is in the slipstream. You can’t purchase it because it is not for sale. It is free. Priceless. You won’t find it on the internet.

You can invite it as you observe the dynamic patterns of nature. You can invoke from the ageless, timeless depth of connection to all that is.

But you must still the businesses, quite the babel.

Claim agency over your innate intelligence.

Water ~ Tone your vagal nerve https://drsaritaelizabeth.com/water-tone-your-vagal-nerve/ Fri, 03 Feb 2023 12:50:53 +0000 https://drsaritaelizabeth.com/?p=4350 Continue reading →]]> Stimulation of the vagus nerve plays an important role in the management of anxiety and mental health issues. The vagus nerve is the longest running cranial nerve in your body. It is one of ten paired cranial nerves and runs from the stem of your brain all the way down to your gut. The word “vagus” translates to “wandering” in Latin, and the vagus nerve certainly does that.

As the longest and most complex of all the cranial nerves, it starts at the stem of the brain, behind the ears before it meanders down the sides of the neck, through the chest, and eventually ends in the abdomen linking the brain to the heart, lungs, throat, and gut. It helps to regulate our heart rate, blood pressure, digestion, sweating, and speech.

When we are in parasympathetic dominance we are able to rest and heal.

Vagus Nerve Connects the Brain and Gut

The vagus nerve and it’s feedback are the sensory network that informs the brain of what’s going on in our organs, most specially the digestive tract (stomach and intestines), lungs and heart, spleen, liver, and kidneys.

People with good vagal tone can relax faster after a stress and are more capable of regulating blood glucose levels, reducing chances of diabetes, stroke and cardiovascular disease. Recent research presented by the European League Against Rheumatism indicate that vagus nerve stimulation significantly reduces symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis.

Symptoms are messages from our body that something is wrong. Poor vagal tone can express as ongoing high levels of stress, anxiety, depression, overwhelm, an inability to focus or regulate emotions and inflammation. The nerve can become damaged express deeper dysfunction such as abnormal heart rate, blood pressure or glucose. Digestion or speech may be become compromised.

It is essential to listen to our bodies. Winter is the perfect season to slow down and take notice of our capacity to reset, restore and recharge.

This study on loving kindness meditation improved healthy vagal tone in participants. Being present and acknowledging that everything in the moment is okay reduces anxiety.

Significant and important research has been making the news about a microbiota-gut-brain axis. Read up on this fascinating subject here. Also this article discusses the science behind gut microbiota, brain function and stress related disorders.

M: THANKSGIVING BLESSING https://drsaritaelizabeth.com/m-thanksgiving-blessing/ Fri, 22 Nov 2019 13:08:13 +0000 https://drsaritaelizabeth.com/?p=2262 Continue reading →]]>

A Haudenosaunee “Thanksgiving” Prayer:
A Native American Traditional Blessing

Today we have gathered and we see that the cycles of life continue. We have been given the duty to live in balance and harmony with each other and all living things. So now, we bring our minds together as one as we give greetings and thanks to each other as People.

Now our minds are one.

The Earth Mother

We are all thankful to our Mother, the Earth, for she gives us all that we need for life. She supports our feet as we walk about upon her. It gives us joy that she continues to care for us as she has from the beginning of time. To our Mother, we send greetings and thanks.

Now our minds are one.

The Waters

We give thanks to all the Waters of the world for quenching our thirst and providing us with strength. Water is life. We know its power in many forms – waterfalls and rain, mists and streams, rivers and oceans. With one mind, we send greetings and thanks to the spirit of water.

Now our minds are one.

The Fish

We turn our minds to all the Fish life in the water. They were instructed to cleanse and purify the water. They also give themselves to us as food. We are grateful that we can still find pure water. So, we turn now to the Fish and send our greetings and thanks.

Now our minds are one.

The Plants

Now we turn toward the vast fields of Plant life. As far as the eye can see, the Plants grow, working many wonders. They sustain many life forms. With our minds gathered together, we give thanks and look forward to seeing Plant life for many generations to come.

Now our minds are one.

The Food Plants

With one mind, we turn to honor and thank all the Food Plants we harvest from the garden. Since the beginning of time, the grains, vegetables, beans and berries have helped the people survive. Many other living things draw strength from them too. We gather all the Plant Foods together as one and send them a greeting and thanks.

Now our minds are one.

The Medicine Herbs

Now we turn to all the Medicine herbs of the world. From the beginning, they were instructed to take away sickness. They are always waiting and ready to heal us. We are happy there are still among us those special few who remember how to use these plants for healing. With one mind, we send greetings and thanks to the Medicines and to the keepers of the Medicines.

Now our minds are one.

The Animals

We gather our minds together to send greetings and thanks to all the Animal life in the world. They have many things to teach us as people. We see them near our homes and in the deep forests. We are glad they are still here and we hope that it will always be so.

Now our minds are one.

The Trees

We now turn our thoughts to the Trees. The Earth has many families of Trees who have their own instructions and uses. Some provide us with shelter and shade, others with fruit, beauty and other useful things. Many peoples of the world use a Tree as a symbol of peace and strength. With one mind, we greet and thank the Tree life.

Now our minds are one.

The Birds

We put our minds together as one and thank all the Birds who move and fly about over our heads. The Creator gave them beautiful songs. Each day they remind us to enjoy and appreciate life. The Eagle was chosen to be their leader. To all the Birds – from the smallest to the largest – we send our joyful greetings and thanks.

Now our minds are one.

The Four Winds

We are all thankful to the powers we know as the Four Winds. We hear their voices in the moving air as they refresh us and purify the air we breathe. They help to bring the change of seasons. From the four directions they come, bringing us messages and giving us strength. With one mind, we send our greetings and thanks to the Four Winds.

Now our minds are one.

The Thunderers

Now we turn to the west where our Grandfathers, the Thunder Beings, live. With lightning and thundering voices, they bring with them the water that renews life. We bring our minds together as one to send greetings and thanks to our Grandfathers, the Thunderers.

Now our minds are one.

The Sun

We now send greetings and thanks to our eldest Brother, the Sun. Each day without fail he travels the sky from east to west, bringing the light of a new day. He is the source of all the fires of life. With one mind, we send greetings and thanks to our Brother, the Sun.

Now our minds are one.

Grandmother Moon

We put our minds together and give thanks to our oldest grandmother, the Moon, who lights the night-time sky. She is the leader of women all over the world, and she governs the movement of the ocean tides. By her changing face we measure time, and it is the Moon who watches over the arrival of children here on Earth. With one mind, we send greetings and thanks to our Grandmother, the Moon.

Now our minds are one.

The Stars

We give thanks to the Stars who are spread across the sky like jewelry. We see them in the night, helping the Moon to light the darkness and bringing dew to the gardens and growing things. When we travel at night, they guide us home. With our minds gathered together as one, we send greetings and thanks to all the Stars.

Now our minds are one.

The Enlightened Teachers

We gather our minds to greet and thank the enlightened Teachers who have come to help throughout the ages. When we forget how to live in harmony, they remind us of the way we were instructed to live as people. With one mind, we send greetings and thanks to these caring Teachers.

Now our minds are one.

The Creator

Now we turn our thoughts to the Creator, or Great Spirit, and send greetings and thanks for the gifts of Creation. Everything we need to live a good life is here on this Mother Earth. For all the love that is still around us, we gather our minds together as one and send our choicest words of greetings and thanks to the Creator.

Now our minds are one.

We have now arrived at the place where we end our words. Of all the things we have named, it was not our intention to leave anything out. If something was forgotten, we leave it to each individual to send such greetings and thanks in their own way.

Now our minds are one.

We invite you to stay in touch. xoxoxo Sarita

How Biomat works:

Biomat’s far infrared rays penetrate deep into the body promoting good health and balance therefore it is used to treat a wide range of health issues. A study published in 2012 provides the results of the biological effects and discusses potential medical applications of far infrared radiation exposure.

Gemstones!

Gemstones are of the mountain. A natural gemstone is a mineral, stone, or organic matter that can be cut and polished for use as jewelry, an ornament, or as part of a medical application such as the amethyst biomat. Gemstones are not commonly found. Gems tend to be scattered sparsely throughout a large body of rock or to have crystallized as small aggregates or fill veins and small cavities. The United States Geological Survey has a publication available in pdf all about gemstones and how they form. We love science!

Why amethyst?

Scientists and healers have acknowledged and used amethyst for centuries. Today, modern science recognizes amethyst’s highly conductive properties. Amethyst crystals produce the most consistent and powerful means of delivering far infrared light waves and the ionic effects to our bodies.

The heat comes from friction generated within the body through the effects of far infrared rays. Far infrared rays warm the inside of your body and the part of your body making contact with the Biomat®. Should the temperature of any part of the Biomat® exceed the set temperature, the thermal sensors distributed throughout the Biomat® will cut off the electric current. When the Biomat® reaches the selected temperature, the E.D.N.I. lights will come on and will stay on until the Biomat® needs to raise the temperature. The Biomat® comes with an external control box which allows you to adjust the desired temperature and usage time (between 2, 4, 8, or 12 hours). As an added safety feature, when the controller is set to 131°F or higher, it will automatically step down to 113°F after 4 hours.

Metal/Autumn Season Mountain Meditations

The Metal Element manifests as: mountain, West, value systems, reflection, the skin, lungs, large intestine (colon), letting go of that which no longer serves, exactness, the edge, righteousness, integrity. A powerful seasonal meditation is to visualize and connect with the mountain.

Mindfulness is a state of being awake and in touch with our existence. Meditation techniques, like the Mountain Meditation, can help incorporate mindfulness into our daily lives, which will in turn bring about positive change in behavior and emotions.

METHOD:

 • Sit down in a comfortable position on the floor or in a chair.
 • Focus on your breath for a few moments, then imagine the most beautiful mountain you know of or can image. Visualize its various details and its unmovable, stable presence grounded to the earth.
 • Allow yourself a few minutes of developing this clear image in your mind, then imagine the mountain inside yourself and you becoming the mountain!
 • Imagine yourself sitting in stillness and in calm, simply resting and grounded as weather patterns, storms, and seasons pass before you.
 • Just as a mountain withstands constant changes and extremes, we also experience changing thoughts, emotions, challenges, and life experiences. Let your mind visualize these experiences as external, passing, and impersonal events, much like passing weather patterns.
 • Feel yourself unmoving, rooted in stillness, amid the constant changes of your internal and external life.
 • This meditation is ideal to last about 20 minutes. It can be shortened or lengthened based on the your time availability and state of mind as well as adapted for morning or evening.
 • Add on for morning session: Once you have embodied the stillness of the mountain within, imagine yourself ascending the mountain, enjoying the technicolor show of leaves, hearing the rustle of leaves underfoot, watching a leaf fall from above, dancing on the currents of the wind to the ground ~ letting go peacefully of that which on longer serves.
 • As you continue to climb higher, you notice that climbing the mountain is much easier that you could have ever imagined. Freedom, expansiveness and inspiration fill you. As you ascend ~ surefooted ~ step by step, you catch glimpses of the greater majestic mountain range and a lush, gentle valley. In a short time, you have, almost effortlessly, reached the mountain top.
 • Inhale beauty and completeness. Exhale gratitude. Allow ease, success and clarity to permeate your dreams, goals and visions. From this mountain top, breathe in and breath out fully unlimited possibility as you begin your today.

This Seasonal Mountain Meditation allows us to become grounded and connect with our inner strength when faced with stressful and challenging situations, both internal and external.

*************************

Meditation is a self-regulatory practice that we can do for ourselves to promote good health and well-being. Research shows that better health outcomes for those of us who learn and practice these skills. In particular, research has shown that the ability to concentrate attention can promote deep relaxation in the body, and that the ability to be more mindful in each situation can help break the damaging, habitual reactions to stress.

Welcome Fall With Gong Therapy

Gillian Shapiro and Gong at Alberta Orchard Wellness

by Gillian Shapiro

Family Herbalist, Ayurvedic Health Counselor, Gong Therapy Practitioner, Kundalini Yoga and Meditation Instructor, Reiki Practitoner, GriefYogaTM Instructor

We have entered Fall season in the Western hemisphere, a season dominated by the vata dosha. Vata is one of the three doshas or constitutions according to the ancient science of Ayurveda, the sister science to Yoga which is over 5000 years old. The word “Ayurveda” means “science of life”. All of us are made up of a blend of the elements of fire, water, air, ether and earth. In Ayurveda. these elements are categorized into three doshas; namely, vata, pitta and kapha and we contain different proportions of the doshas in our physical, mental and emotional bodies. We’ll focus on vata due to the time of year. Vata is governed by the elements of air and space and is characterized by the qualities of light, dry, brittle, subtle, hard, rough, active, clear and cold. It governs movement. The colon is the main organ associated with vata. The auditory channel is the prominent sense, according to this ancient science, which leads me to the gong and its potential as an especially effective therapy given the time of year. If you are interested in determining your own dosha, follow the link to the online dosha questionnaire courtesy of my herbal mentor, Don Ollsin of Grassroots Herbalism: Dosha Questionnaire

Gillian Shapiro & Gong at AOW

Gillian Shapiro & Gong at Alberta Orchard Wellness

The gong, as a form of sound or sonic therapy, is a wonderful way to welcome this transition to Fall as the weather cools, days become shorter, and leaves dazzle us with their technicolor splendor. The gong is a musical instrument but when played for meditation, it is used to facilitate health and vitality.

Everything is made up of vibration and the gong vibrates the cells in our bodies. In fact, we are made up of 70% water, meaning we conduct sound! Sound has the potential to profoundly transform us on a cellular level.

Among the variety of potential benefits of the gong are:

 • A sense of security and grounding;
 • Opening the higher chakras (energy centers);
 • Pain management (particularly migraines);
 • Especially soothing for high vata constitutions, i.e., calming and unplugging the overactive mind, reducing anxiety, worry and overwhelm and relief for insomnia;
 • Encourages deep relaxation and a meditative state;
 • Trauma and PTSD symptoms;
 • Promotes emotional release when working through grief, by moving stuck energy, and breaking and releasing emotional and energetic blocks.

Gillian offers one hour gong therapy appointments at Alberta Orchard Wellness on Monday evenings from 5-8 p.m. Please follow our two step process today to book your session for Fall.

Book Gong Therapy here and Pre-pay for your session here or contact us if you need help booking via albertaorchard.com or drsaritaelizabeth.com.

The sounds are oftentimes magical and have been described as ethereal, cosmic, like being in outer space and also likened to ocean waves crashing over us. The sounds can also be loud and intense, at times, to promote a deep release for the nervous system.

The gong activates the parasympathetic nervous system (also known as the “rest and digest” system), nourishing us energetically, thereby reducing stress and soothing the overly taxed sympathetic “fight or flight” nervous system that we tend to live in during these busy, stressful times.

A gong therapy session is a one-on-one private session, customized to your specific needs based on an intake questionnaire you complete at the beginning of the session. A typical session lasts one hour and may also include breath work (pranayama), mantra, affirmations, stretching and/or mudras.

Gong therapy is an ideal companion to talk therapy, yoga/meditation, massage therapy, acupuncture, Reiki and many other modalities as well as conventional medical treatments.

The environment is safe, supportive, non-judgmental and soul nourishing. No prior experience with Yoga, Ayurveda or the gong are necessary. Come with the intention to surrender to the waves of sound and vibration. Of course, everyone is invited to show up and participate when I offer gong baths, private sessions, classes or workshops around town that include the gong. Follow the “Beech Hills Wellness” page on Facebook to check out the schedule or email me at vegout.gillian@gmail.com to be added to our monthly newsletter to keep track of our wellness offerings. Gillian

What inspired you to learn gong therapy? I have loved the cosmic sounds and vibrations of the gong since I first experienced them in a yoga class in NYC, where I ultimately did my kundalini yoga teacher training. The gong’s ability to change our state of mind and our consciousness is so profound, as has been my experience. I initially learned to play the gong during a hands-on module of my teacher training that I specifically requested. I simply could not get enough of this sacred instrument so I had to buy one when I moved to Alabama six+ years ago, where I actually had the space for it (unlike in my NYC apartment). From then on, I practiced and shared the gong’s amazingness with students in my yoga classes. I was called to go a step further and learn Gong Therapy to deepen my understanding of more specific healing protocols facilitated by the gong. Private sessions are unique in that way; I can play to a person’s specific body system, chakra or emotion that needs support.

What is your personal process like during a gong session? I am chanting mantra while I am playing to maintain a neutral state of mind. In gong therapy sessions, I am situated quite close to my client, with the gong in between us so we are sharing an intimate, energetic field, allowing me to be a channel for the gong to intuitively express what the client needs.

How can sound healing be incorporated into our daily lives? A magical way to incorporate sound healing on a daily basis is to chant mantra, or sacred sounds, as a meditation. By doing so, we embrace our unique voice as a powerful instrument to connect to inner wisdom. It is a practice filled with compassion, sweetness and love. Singing and also humming are other easily accessible ways to add sound healing to our lives, with often profound effects.
